Rest with us

“And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the LORD Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels.” II Thess. 1:7

A preacher friend of mine had a heart attack a couple of years ago which affected part of his brain. It is a very rare condition and has resulted in his speech being impaired to the point that he can not pastor anymore. When I asked him recently how he was paying the bills, he said, “If I can trust God to take care of me for eternity, I should be able to trust him to take care of me for the next couple of years.” Maybe that is what Paul was trying to communicate to the Thessalonian believers. We can rest knowing that, our LORD is in control of every situation.

In this current climate of uncertainty the message rings loudly: "Rest with us." Don't fret and worry about things you can not change. We don't know what the future holds, but we know Who holds the future.
